Planning Your Funeral To Save Time And Reduce Stress On Your Family

Posted on

As people age, estate planning, making a will, and other end-of-life planning start to be more important to them. Planning a funeral is starting to become a large part of the pre-planning for some, and having a funeral pre-plan can make a lot of sense in many situations.

Pre-Planning To Reduce Stress

There can be a lot of stress in the days following the death of a family member, and things often need to happen quickly to get everything in order. Funeral pre-arrangement plans can help reduce this stress significantly because everything is already in place based on the wishes of the decedent.

Once the person passes, all the family has to do is enact the funeral pre-plan and the funeral home can take over from there. Because everything is already planned and in writing, it gives the family and the funeral home specific directions to follow so there are no decisions to make.

Often the plan includes details for the service, the burial, and if the person wants to be cremated, where the ashes are to be spread. The idea of funeral pre-arrangement planning is to ensure that you get the service you want and no one in the family needs to assume the burden of planning the funeral but instead can take the time to mourn.

Burial Plots

Funeral pre-arrangement planning can include the selection and purchase of a burial plot at a cemetery of your choosing. While this may sound strange to some people, picking out your final resting place allows you to purchase the plot and secure it so it will be yours when the time comes.

Some large families like the idea of being interred alongside each other, so purchasing the burial plot in advance allows them to buy a block that will include all of the family in the same place when they pass. In some cases, even the headstones are purchased and set in place, minus the date of passing.

Religious Rites

When funeral pre-arrangement planning is used, it allows details for the service like which religious rites are included in the service. Sometimes a family member will hold different religious views from the rest of the family, and a funeral pre-plan is the best way to ensure that the rites of their religion are followed.

Because religious beliefs are so personal, it is a good way to ensure that the priest, rabbi, or pastor you prefer officiates the service and in the way you want it done. The funeral pre-arrangement planning can specify details and people in it and once in place, the funeral home will follow the wishes set forth in it so your funeral goes just the way you would like it to.
